Several new types of electricity-saving devices are becoming common. These gadgets rely on electronics to operate an appliance more efficiently. Perhaps the best known example is the Green Plug, which adjusts the voltage applied to motors to improve their performance. The power planner reduces wasted energy supplied to cell phones, printers, laptops, cameras, modems and many other portable electronic devices.
Green plug is leveraging the universality of the USB connector for delivering power to low-power devices. Unmodified, standard USB cables can be used to connect green plug-enabled power supplies to low-power devices that get power over their USB connectors. Since USB provides for low-power only, green plug has extended the connector in a very innovative way such that high-power devices can all use the universal connector for power.
Check out this ‘green’ hydrogen powered search and rescue robot. Searchers often face daunting challenges during search and rescue tasks in dangerous environments. SLODUNNY HYDRO (the name) works when large structures pancake often prevent heroic rescue workers from searching buildings due to the unacceptable personal risk from further collapse. Finally and perhaps best addressed by the proposed work, both people and dogs are frequently too big to enter voids, limiting the search to no more than a few feet from the perimeter. It also offers unique forms of mobility particularly well-suited to confined areas.
The LED illuminated pillow/s decorates your surrounding water acting individually or as a field. Inspired from bioluminescent underwater creatures, Light Drift proposes an array of photovoltaically powered luminous floats. The individual elements are vacuum foamed polycarbonate shells molded to house a custom PV, microcontroller and circuit board.
This looks nothing beyond a normal toy that kids would play with all the time. Maybe even kids these days would play with toys that appear a lot more flash and sophisticated. But this is no mere toy as it paves way in to a future sans batteries and chargers. It helps us continue development of technology in a direction that would help us save a lot of energy and of course also create less pollution. Some of the leading companies if the world, have been trying to develop technological options that provide an alternative to the traditional sources of energy.
Now Sony is trying to take forward a project that it had started some while back. It has launched a new digital camera and unlike the other ones in market, this is sure as hell going to capture your attention, if not the best possible picture. Sony has launched a new digital cam that is powered by human energy. In short, your mechanical work is converted in to energy that powers this cam. The cam has a very unique and fun design that is sure to have some takers.
The reservoir of swimming health benefits is really comprehensive. This aerobic exercise is in real demand in the present times, owing to the reason that people tend to enjoy water sports. It ensures the well being of your heart and lungs. It enhances the flexibility of your joints and provides the scope for boosting your physical activity workout level, thus helping a great deal in your weight loss program, but what we forget is that these pools aren’t all that green – the eclectic cost to keep the pumps running is way too high, debris, chemicals used in cleaning the pool etc. What do we do? Solar options are growing to cut the carbon footprints of your pool, options such as this solar powered pool robotic skimmer (a much greener approach for swimmers). (more…)
Meet the world’s first Bluetooth car-kit that from ANYCOM is equipped with a high-performance solar panel. The ANYCOM Solar Car-Kit not only sounds smart and looks stylish, but is also the most environment-friendly product of its kind.
The Lithium Polymer battery can carry up to 15 hours of crystal clear talk time and stand by for the duration of 25 days without added hours from solar charging. Add another 3 hours of exposure to the sun and you get an extra 30 minutes of talk-time. A 16-bit digital signal processor works to filter the surrounding noise and reduce the echo. The Bluetooth kit can be fully charged from the supplied car charger or even your computer’s USB port in just 2 hours.
The kit has a host of other cool features too. It comes with a Superior Communication Quality with Echo-Cancellation and Noise Reduction and 95 dB High Performance Speaker which ensures a clear and loud signal even at higher driving noise. The 16-bit digital signal processor (DSP) the ANYCOM Solar Car-Kit filters the surrounding noise and reduces the echo of your own voice.
This Pull -Cord Generator from Potenco can not only supply enough juice to power all your portable gadgets, but also give you a small workout. To get it running, you will have to pull on the cord, which instantly charges its internal batteries. Simply hold the PCG in the palm of one hand, pull the cord with the other hand, and generate instant energy. A minute of pulling can power your mp3 player for 3 hours or provide energy for 20 minutes of talk time on your mobile phone. The PCG is supposed to powers everything from rechargeable batteries, to house lighting, cell phones, radios, GPS, and of course, notebooks. Its output typically ranges between 12W and 15W, with a maximum of 20W. Video after the jump.
It is mainly intended as a cheap power source for individuals living off-grid situations. However, in order to make it compatible for the third world, it needs to be affordable, which explains Potenco’s alliance with the One Laptop Per Child Project (OLPC). As most know, the OLPC intends to provide their XO laptop to children in developing countries, through deals with governments and individual contributions for the now- $180-estimated laptop. The PCG will come with every XO laptop purchase, but the company also wants to make it separately available in order to make an even bigger impact. At the moment, there is no estimate about its separate cost.
