Cycool - A cool, sweat-free cycling session!

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Does the very thought of dripping sweat, wet clothes and clammy hands deter you from carrying out your work-out sessions- especially in summers? Would you rather stay fat and flabby than perspire over a treadmill or a stationary bike? Well now, help is at hand with this simple but revolutionarily innovative piece of exercise equipment called “Cycool”. True to its name, this is your regular stationary bike with a fan attached to the front which keeps you cool and dry as you peddle those pounds away. What’s more, the speed of the fan is regulated by the speed of your peddling. Talk about custom made comfort! While you burn an equal number of calories, you are spared the discomfort of a sweaty session. The fan is strategically positioned so that it blows air on your face and entire upper body.

Pedal to power computers

The power that each one of us has inside us, we are so ignorant about it. Scientists have been going bonkers looking for alternatives to back up our energy need. But they in a way underestimated the human power itself. The students at MIT though have come up with a simple yet inspiring solution- Pedal Power.
A feast for the eyes and brains, 10 students of the MIT cycling team gathered in red, white and black uniforms for an enthralling display of the power of the human muscle. The lobby of the MIT’s Stata center became witness to human powered computing.

As the members pedalled their bikes, they powered a few super computers which ran an application that further stimulated fusion reaction. The direct current produced by pedalling the cycles (the cycles were connected to a generator, which in turn was connected to a converter) got transformed into alternating current through the converter.

LIKEaBIKE - green toy vehicle

The LIKEaBIKE is a unique toy vehicle for children between the ages of two and five. This walking bike can be used indoors and out. It is a bike without pedals made from fine-looking birch wood with pneumatic inflated rubber tires, which make it highly versatile. It’s the perfect companion for trips off the beaten track, making rough and bumpy paths comfortable for the rider - a kind of all-terrain bike for tikes with lots of go! The seat is adjustable so that it can grow with children. An added safety feature is that the front wheel can only turn slightly in each direction, thereby avoiding sudden turns and falls.
