Chopstick Art: Crafting a greener planet with recycled Chopsticks!

Friday, February 29th, 2008

I am not Chinese and I have never ever been able to eat with chopsticks properly. In fact every time I eat noodles in a restaurant with my buddies they make it a point to click a picture while half of those things are hanging out of my mouth still and I am desperately trying to swallow them while still attempting to look like I’m in perfect poise. So basically I suck when it comes to Chopsticks and Chinese food. That is exactly the reason why I bring it home and eat it in the comfort of my couch where I cannot make a total idiot of myself. That is also the reason why I support every chopstick being used in recycled art.

Hips Don’t Lie… but they do charge up your music!

An MP3 Player that feeds off your energy! Here is an amazingly wonderful gadget that falls in to the line of those eco-friendly magic devices that barely need any energy and go easy on the green planet. So if you want to enjoy your music and simultaneously want to spread the magic of your music around the planet in a harmoniously green fashion then this is your MP3 Player. This MP3 player needs absolutely no charge apart from you being interested enough in your music enough to shake your hips to it.

Hips don’t lie but they now do charge your MP3 player. This eco-friendly product is not surprisingly out of the Chinese market and it uses the mechanical energy of your moments to charge itself. It comes with a Bluetooth and it charges as you shake to your music or enjoy it while doing your workout. You could charge while dancing in the disco or when going out for a jog. If you ask me, then there are plenty of other ways but because I do not wish to be ‘Rated R’ and I wish even little kids should now about this green gadget, I will refrain from making any further suggestions.

The technology is really cool and it makes sure that you never run out of charge. For the more tranquil music lovers, you could still use this system as back up to your main energy source. For me though, this works just fine. I suppose I can just carry this to the ground in every morning and by the time I hit a few balls and do a bit of running; I’ll have enough charge for the day. Works like a charm indeed!

Modern Bamboo Bridge

It is a indeed a bit ironic that this news should filter its to us on the same day in which we heard the news that China along with India refused to sign the Bali draft on cutting down Carbon emissions. While that is a totally a different topic altogether, it just goes to show the difference between matters of environment handled by petty bureaucrats and if handled by environmentally aware citizens. This also shows the world the difference between the few at the top and the ones that actually work at a ground level to make the world that they live in a better place.

China has laid down world’s first modern bamboo bridge. Headed up by the School of Civil Engineering of Hunan University, a year of research and trial & error went into beefing up the intensity of the bamboo structures that eventually became the bridge as it was launched officially on the 12th of January. The bridge has already been put under test with its first load being a truck of 8.6 tons. The bridge is billed at being capable of carrying nearly 90 tons of static weight.

Environment monitoring satellite

Ever since civilization began, nature gradually started not only to lose its potentials but also to pose lethal threats to the very existence of organisms. The earth, that is considered to be the most inhabitable planet in the universe, has lost some valuable species once for all.

With man’s increasing greed in the name of technology and development, the atmosphere and water bodies have turned into disposal tanks. Hazardous gases, greenhouse gases, heavy metals etc have taken over the elixir of life, oxygen and clean water. Global warming is another issue that points a pistol and there simply seems to be no means of escape. The effects of tampering with nature’s way, are the natural calamities and loss of masses of lives.
